BUSINESS men and women from Melbourne’s southeast rallied to be mentors for Casey and Greater Dandenong school students at special breakfast appointments last week.
The City of Casey in conjunction with the South East Local Learning and Employment Network held the Women’s and Men’s Mentor Breakfasts on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 August at the council’s Narre Warren chambers.
One hundred people attended each breakfast with a mixture of students looking for career guidance, and business people willing to provide it.
Australian Air Force Group Captain Sheldon Kimber, who has served in Iraq and Afghanistan, was guest speaker at the men’s breakfast and spoke to young people about remaining positive and making the most of their opportunities.
Group capt. Kimber reminded young people that only they could control their destinies, and that in order to become successful it would require a total mind and body discipline.
