UP TO 18 new social housing dwellings will be built in the Bruce electorate under the Australian Government’s Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan.
Springvale, Noble Park and Dandenong North are being considered as locations for some of the houses.
A government spokesperson said that the location of the dwellings was not set in concrete and was still in negotiation.
Member of Bruce, Alan Griffin said both the state and federal governments had moved quickly to provide the stimulus to the local economy.
“This is great news for local jobs and the local economy,” he said.
“In these tough times it is critical that we do all we can to help businesses retain their workers as well as employ more people.”
The new social houses will be ready for tenants to move into by June 2010.
