STRUCTURAL Challenge began in 2000 by managing director Maria Mavrikos. Within 10 years, the company has grown from employing four people to employing 23, and its turnover has increased more than 10-fold.
Structural Challenge focuses on the structural steel market and provides a complete package from shop drafting to fabrication through to erection and structural work.
The company thrives on difficult projects. It currently has 36 schools on the books, and has completed a number of projects including the Toyota Head Office at Port Melbourne, High Point Shopping Centre, Melbourne and Caulfield Grammar Schools, The Necropolis and numerous police stations such as the Belgrave project.
Maria’s drive and success has led her to become a finalist in the Telstra Business Women’s Award as well as the winner of the Victorian Outstanding Achievement Award as a Business Woman and the winner of the National Award for Advancing the Interests of Women in Construction.
The company won the Australian Steel Institute Fabricators Award for their High Point Shopping Centre project in 2006 and again in 2008 for their Melbourne Grammar project.
Structural Challenge is a worthy nominee in the areas of Small Business, Service Excellence, Employment, Innovation and the Premier Regional Business Award for 2009.
