FIREWORKS, rides, food and music kept Vietnamese people entertained on the weekend as they gathered to celebrate their new year at Sandown Racecourse.
The Vietnamese TET festival is an annual event that has been running for more than 20 years across Victoria and in Springvale for the past four years.
Vietnamese Committee in Australia Victoria Chapter president Bon Nguyen said this year marked the 35th anniversary of Vietnamese settlement in Australia.
Festival patrons enjoyed an array of activities, including a cultural exhibition, traditional foods, music and activities.
Many visited the festival’s shrine to remember the Australian soldiers who died in the Vietnam War, while others attended a flag raising ceremony and relaxed at night under a colourful firework display.
