CLIENTS at the Doveton Neighbourhood Learning Centre (DNLC) will be comfortable on new furniture thanks to a $2000 funding boost.
The funding comes as Holt MP Anthony Byrne announced last week that the federal and state governments will provide more than $437,000 for services such as home modifications, transport, meals, personal care and allied health and nursing care for the elderly and people with disabilities in the Holt region.
The funding is being provided through the Home and Community Care (HACC) program.
This funding is part of an $18.5 million funding package providing 10,000 more nursing hours and 22,000 more respite hours across the state.
Mr Byrne said the HACC program was beneficial to many Victorians.
“The HACC program provides the practical assistance that allows people to remain independent, in their own homes and communities, rather than moving prematurely into permanent residential care,” he said.
Manager of DNLC Jodie Berry welcomed the HACC grant.
“DNLC will use the additional funding on upgrading our furniture for the planned activity group to better suit the needs of our clients. Our current chairs are more than 18 years old and do not provide adequate support padding or comfort,” she said.
This year the Rudd and Brumby governments will provide $472 million in funding for Home and Community Care services to more than 250,000 vulnerable Victorians.
