DELIVERY drivers are needed to carry out the City of Greater Dandenong’s Meals on Wheels program.
Through the program, volunteer drivers deliver up to 20 meals to the homes of frail and elderly residents in Greater Dandenong every day.
Greater Dandenong Mayor Jim Memeti said the service helped elderly in the community to remain in their own homes.
“Without the help of volunteers, services such as this one simply couldn’t continue to operate,” he said.
“Meals on Wheels is a vital community service, one that not only provides hearty and nutritious meals to our residents, but provides some social interaction as well.”
Volunteers must have their own car and be prepared to work one day each week from 11am to 1pm.
Volunteers are reimbursed for all of their petrol expenses.
Anyone interested in helping can contact council’s volunteer program co-ordinator on 9238 5335.
