A WOULD-be robber got more than he bargained for when police caught him holding-up a Noble Park petrol station at knifepoint on Monday morning.
Police believed the man entered the Heatherton Road premises around 1.40am and demanded cash.
However, the attendant activated the duress alarm and a nearby police unit arrived within minutes to find the bandit still in the store.
The 36-year-old Noble Park man was arrested at the scene.
He faced the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court charged with attempted armed robbery later the same day.
Nabbed on the spot
