FOR a rollicking good time, kids can’t go past My Grandma Lived In Gooligulch, a show full of imagination, charm and humour.
Written and directed by children theatre icons Graeme Base and Garry Ginivan, it is a musical tale of a city kid who has to spend the summer holidays with her eccentric Grandma in outback Gooligulch.
The five-month national tour kicks off on 28 May at the Drum Theatre in Dandenong and producer Karen Keegan says it’s a multi-levelled show for all ages.
“We’re asking the kids to bring along their special person, whether it be their grandma or their aunt, to share in this day,” said Ms Keegan.
“It’s fantastic that we’re starting the tour in Dandenong, and it will be a really wonderful experience for everyone.”
Various activities will take place on the day including story time, face painting and a soft toy zoo of Australian animals in the foyer and Ms Keegan promises it will be a day full of excitement for the children.
“From the moment the kids walk in, they’ll know they’ll have a fun time.” The show features puppets, an interesting story, high-quality harmonies, and a talented cast.
It premiered in 2006 at the Arts Centre, being nominated for Helpmann and Drover awards.
The story will be shared with a new audience on 28 May at 10.30am and 1pm.
The Drum Theatreis on the corner of Lonsdale and Walker streets, Dandenong.
Adults at children’s prices $15. Family admit $50.
