It’s a flipping miracle

A WOMAN escaped serious injury when her car flipped upside down an embankment off Heatherton Road near the Monash Freeway in Endeavour Hills.
The woman, in her late 30s, was believed to have been turning right from Heatherton Road onto the freeway about 10am last Monday week when her car skidded in the wet conditions, slipped down the bank and ended up in the ditch.
Police, ambulance and fire crews from Hallam and Dandenong attended the accident.
Hallam fire brigade senior station officer Greg Chapman said when the fire brigade arrived the woman was still in the upturned car, which was in about three inches deep in water.
“The lady was being held up out of the water by a passerby,” Mr Chapman said.
“We initially had a look at ways we could get her out. We ended up breaking the back window and pulled her out the back of the upside-down car.”
The woman was treated for minor injuries and shock.
