Lookout for cash

By Nicole Williams
THE State Budget offered a boost to the Dandenong Neighbourhood Watch group.
The Coalition Government committed $550,000 to revitalise the program and appoint an executive officer to oversee the running of the program state-wide.
Member for South Eastern Metropolitan Region Inga Peulich said the commitment should be welcomed by the Dandenong Neighbourhood Watch group.
“The $550,000 to revitalise and strengthen Neighbourhood Watch will ensure local communities can regain control of their streets again,” Ms Peulich said.
President of Neighbourhood Watch Victoria Andrew Brideson said the commitment was exciting for the program and would benefit every person in Dandenong.
“It will run a lot more smoothly, more efficiently and we’ll be taking Neighbourhood Watch into the 21st century,” Mr Brideson said.
It will be the first time the program will have this sort of position, which will ensure all groups are responsible for their area.
In the coming weeks, Neighbourhood Watch will also launch a new website.
“Everything that occurs in the Dandenong Neighbourhood Watch scene will be put directly online,” Mr Brideson said.
“Every person in the City of Dandenong will be able to log on and see what’s happening in Dandenong. It’s very exciting.”
