DANDENONG Police station has a new addition.
The Dandenong Embona Taskforce started on Monday 9 May and will tackle robbery and armed robbery offences in Division 3, which includes Dandenong, Casey and Cardinia.
Detective Sergeant Trevor Smith said the new Embona Taskforce had detective and uniformed officers dedicated to targeting these crimes.
“We’re just dedicated to these offences, pulling all our resources together for the offences and will hopefully improve the crime rates,” Det Sgt Smith said.
“Our charter is to investigate all robbery offences so we’ve got a tech sergeant and six crew members.”
Robbery offences in the Dandenong, Casey and Cardinia areas used to be investigated by Frankston Embona but Det Sgt Smith said the taskforce was investigating a lot of offences in the area, ‘hence the changeover’.
