No breaks

I REFER to changes to the Take a Break Occasional Childcare program operated by some local community groups.
The “Take a Break” program delivered a practical service to families that did not require full-time child care, and was originally funded on a 70 per cent Commonwealth, 30 per cent state basis.
Unfortunately for many local families, the Federal Labor Government discontinued its funding of the TAB Occasional Care program, which meant services were due to cease on 30 June 2010.
The Victorian Government agreed to fund the Gillard Government’s share to 31 December 2011 in order for families to adjust.
The Baillieu Government’s formal request to the Gillard Labor Government to reinstate TAB Occasional Care funding, has fallen on deaf ears.
I would encourage all families and communities affected by the changes to this occasional childcare program to raise their concerns directly with the Gillard Labor Government and the local Federal MP and to encourage the Federal Government to re-instate funding to this childcare program.

South Eastern Metropolitan Region MP.
