A PEDESTRIAN is in a critical condition after being hit by a car in Noble Park on Tuesday.
Police said the 28-year-old Doveton man may have been trying to cross Heatherton Road but fell and was then hit by a passing car.
The man was found unconscious with severe head injuries on the corner of Kelvinside and Heatherton Roads, Noble Park, at 10.30pm.
Witnesses told police the driver of the silver sedan, which collided with the man, failed to stop and continued driving towards Springvale.
Paramedic Stuart Aisbett came across the injured man on his way to another job and stopped to assist by calling for more resources.
“The man was unconscious with severe head injuries when I found him,” Mr Aisbett said.
He was given pain relief and placed into an induced coma before being taken to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
