PARENTS in Greater Dandenong can expect some financial relief after the Federal Government announced families can now claim school uniforms as part of the Education Tax Refund.
Federal Isaacs MP Mark Dreyfus said eligible parents should keep receipts for uniforms purchases this financial year so it can be included in next financial year’s tax claim.
“The Federal Government understands that the cost of school uniforms can put pressure on the family budget, particularly when kids are growing quickly,” Mr Dreyfus said.
Parents will be able to claim up to 50 per cent of the cost of uniforms in addition to other education expenses.
If the uniform is recommended by the school and it identifies students as being from that particular school, then it can be claimed.
