That ‘deepblue’ feel

TECHNOLOGY, theatre and music have combined to bring ‘deepblue’ to Dandenong.
The newest show at the Drum Theatre, ‘deepblue’, encourages audience participation and prefers mobile phones to remain on.
Greater Dandenong Council’s cultural facilities director Greg Hordacre said the show was not an ordinary orchestra.
“At a ‘deepblue’ show you can clap, cheer, walk around, come late, get a drink or do whatever you like to enjoy the show,” he said.
“We don’t even ask you to turn your mobile off, just to turn it down.
In fact, we want you to text during the show to tell us what you like and don’t like and what you’d like to see more of before the end.”
Camera, big screens, lighting and SMS requests combine with a traditional string section of the orchestra.
The show will perform a mix of classical, pop and film music.
‘Deepblue’ will be performed at the Drum Theatre at 7.30pm on Friday 9 September.
Tickets are $17.50 to $45, and are available by calling 9771 6666 or alternatively online at www.drumtheatre.com.au.
