Steps to success

BUSINESS people were served a dose of inspiration at the South East Business Networks Women in Business Breakfast last week.
Founder and chief executive officer of MOSS Anne-Maree Huxley spoke to guests about her love for humanity and environment and her journey to success.
Ms Huxley left school at the age of 15 and became a dental nurse. At 18, she got married and ran a radiology clinic during the day and a marketing business at night.
“I only took jobs to benefit myself and further my skills,” she said.
Ms Huxley’s passion and motivation landed her positions on boards which ran some of the biggest events in the world.
She also founded the Industry Body for Corporate Responsibility and is now considered to be one of the world’s sustainability thought leaders.
But while she is busy serving numerous roles, including being the chairwoman of Live N Learn Foundation, director of Carbon Trade Exchange (Australia) and director of Carbon Trade Exchange Limited (London), Ms Huxley said she always takes time out to remember her first passion in life – animals.
She advised others to try and remember their passion in life and to make time for simple pleasures to keep them grounded.
“I have burnt myself out,” she said.
“But my love of animals keeps me grounded.”
She also gave advice to the room of business people about how to further their success and warned them to “never burn bridges”.
A self-proclaimed natural born leader, Ms Huxley’s enthusiasm and determination helped her achieve a number of milestones and said she was “living the dream” today.
