LOSING all of last week to weather, Springvale South and Narre Warren played a one-dayer with the Bloods winning the toss and batting first.
Springvale South slumped to 4/63 after some good bowling from Dushan Wickramaratne and James Giertz. Steve Masterson held back the onslaught of the Magpies’ bowlers before he was dismissed for 19 off 58 balls.
With the score 5/71, the Bloods’ tail wagged hard as Jackson Sketcher made 39 off only 23 balls, with two fours and three sixes struck to all parts of Alex Nelson Reserve.
The resistance of the tail gave Springvale South a fighting total of 8/181 to defend. Giertz claimed 3/30 and Wickramaratne 2/49 from their respective eight overs.
Narre Warren cantered home in 30.2 overs, with Wickramaratne showing all-round class with 74 not out off 54 balls, with eight fours and two sixes. He and Nathan King (62) put on 94 for the third wicket as the Magpies took the victory at 3/184.
The win puts Narre Warren just inside the top four while Springvale South slides to seventh.

@BT Sub Sport News:KEYSBOROUGH v PARKFIELD

Keysborough went about redeeming last week’s 61 against Parkfield.
The Burras smashed 6/248 from 47 overs, with openers Darren Lawson (72) and Mahesh Karunaratna (75) putting on 124 for the first wicket – the biggest partnership for any pair in Turf One of the DDCA this season.
After Karunaratna was dismissed, Lawson and Andre Peters (48) added 68 for the second wicket, which is the Turf One second wicket record for this season.
The run rate was kept high as the Burras declared at 6/248 and sent Parkfield back in for a second dig. Adam Brown took 2/29 for Parkfield.
With 25 overs remaining and a lead of 198, the Burras were well placed to snatch a come-from-behind victory.
A quick wicket to Jacob Hennigan left Parkfield at 1/7 and they subsequently walled up their defences and batted out the overs to finish at 1/57. Hennigan was the only wicket taker with 1/8.
Parkfield moves up to fifth while Keysborough is second last, separated only by percentage from Hallam Kalora Park.

@BT Sub Sport News:NORTH DANDENONG v MORDIALLOC

North Dandenong got the tail to wag against Mordialloc to take first-innings points.
The visitors resumed at 0/10 and the openers put together a 51-run partnership before last week’s four-wicket taker Janahan Kuramalingam was caught LBW by Stuart Squires on 34.
Scott Neeson was next dismissed on 40, top scoring for the Norths. Then Shane Leonard and James Byrnes compiled 48 together, before both were out with the score at 123.
Craig Gunawardana left without adding to the total to see the Norths slump to 5/134. Three more quick wickets left North Dandenong at 8/160 –still 25 runs in arrears of the Bloodhounds.
Enter Mujib Timori and Wayne Taylor, the number nine and 10, who both struck 11 to sneak North Dandenong over the line by two wickets.
For Mordialloc, Chathura Athukorala was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4/51 from 21.5 overs and Nick Connelan bowled 15 maidens in his 1/53 off 28 overs.

@BT Sub Sport News:BUCKLEY RIDGES v DANDENONG WEST

Jeremy Kuru’s 50 pushed Buckley Ridges towards victory in the match against Dandenong West.
Resuming at 6/120, Kuru smashed his first half-century for the Ridges before being dismissed by Peter Atkinson.
The Ridges declared on 8/187 off 47 overs and set the Wests 106 runs to avoid an innings defeat.
Greg Siwes and Mohamed Faizer made sure that would not happen, as the pair put on 102 for the first wicket. Siwes was dismissed on 57.
After Anthony Brannan came and went for only 4, the Wests lost three quick wickets to 5/148, giving the Ridges a sniff at chasing the deficit in a final innings.
Faizer finally succumbed for 82 as the Wests went to 6/189. Shaun Weir and Andrew Harry came to the crease, stopped the wickets flowing and made 27 runs for the seventh wicket as the match petered out to a first-innings victory for the Ridges.
Kuru backed up his batting performance with an equally impressive bowling effort of 4/30 off 13 overs.
Buckley Ridges sits second behind Berwick on percentage and Dandenong West is 10th.
