DOVETON’S irresistible form continued against Dandenong West, winning the toss and racking up a massive 6/311cc.
Captain Ryan Hendy combined with Jason Arnberger on a run-scoring spree as they both pushed toward centuries.
Hendy (103) was clean-bowled shortly after his milestone, while Arnberger (97) was run out just three runs shy.
On a tough day for the Dandenong West bowling attack, Peter Atkinson and Nathan Goodes toiled hard for two wickets apiece.
From the low of 7/98, Springvale South fought their way out of trouble against North Dandenong as Andrew Sharp and Jarrod Armitage put on 40 for the eighth wicket before both were dismissed and the Bloods were back in a world of hurt at 9/155.
Enter Harry Staude and Dillon Fernandesz, who took the 2011 DDCA record for the last wicket partnership with a knock of 76 as they wrestled the game back in Springvale South’s favour.
Staude was striking them as cleanly as an opener – belting four fours and five sixes in his rescue innings of 71 off 71 balls.
At the other end, Fernandesz played the role of anchor, locking in for 15 off 50 balls before finally getting dismissed by Wayne Taylor.
The best of the bowlers for North Dandenong were Shane Clark (3/39) and Taylor (3/48). The Norths are 0/5 at stumps.
Parkfield and Buckley Ridges are almost back to square one next week with both sides tearing through each other’s batting lineup.
Parkfield was back in the pavilion after 40 overs, all out for 71, with John O’Hare (28) the only batsman to find any traction against the Ridges’ onslaught.
Shaun Ferreira took 6/15 off 11 overs and the remaining four bowlers shared the rest of the scalps.
In reply, the Ridges found life just as difficult on Park Oval, slumping to 9/51 at stumps, with Wes Nicholas and Matt Goodwright the not out batsmen.
Steve Spojlaric and Hemantha Alles bowled unchanged for 39 overs, with Spoljaric taking 6/19 and Alles 3/36. The pair bowled 17 maidens between them.
Keysborough fought for every run as they scraped to 163 all out off 61 overs.
After being in dire trouble at 8/84, the tail wagged hard with Mushy Perera (22), Baden Saunders (28 not out) and Abhinay Motupalli (29) cobbled together a defendable total for the Burras.
Saunders and Motupalli made 56 for the last partnership. Stuart Squires took 5/47 for Mordialloc and Chathura Athukorala took 4/23.
In reply, Keysborough made some inroads into the Bloodhounds batting order, with the visitors 3/49 at stumps.
Perera struck late to take 2/3 off two overs.
