SILENCE rang out across Greater Dandenong at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month to honour Remembrance Day.
The service at Dandenong’s Pillars of Freedom was well attended by the local community, who took the opportunity to remember those who fought.
As 11am approached a crowd gathered around the Dandenong cenotaph for a short but touching ceremony.
The Dandenong Remembrance Day service was conducted by Dandenong RSL sub-branch secretary Judy Murdoch and president Alan Harper.
Dandenong High School students Johanna Gallo and Dexter Ramos read The Ode.
Representatives of the Armed Forces Cadets, members of the RSL, Greater Dandenong councillor Angela Long and local, state and federal MPs took part in the service and the laying of wreaths and poppies.
