It’s a dry argument

By Nicole Williams
EMPLOYEES at Pinelodge Clinic in Dandenong see the destruction that alcohol addiction can cause so during February workers at St John of God Health Care are putting down the wineglasses and bottles of beer to raise money for FebFast.
St John of God Health Care is FebFast’s largest supporter, with 95 employees signed up so far – six at Pinelodge Clinic.
Pinelodge Clinic general services manager Kerrie Gibbons said the month-long fast from alcohol was particularly close to people at Pinelodge, an alcohol and drug hospital.
“We actually have to deal with patients whose lives are being ruined by the effects of alcohol,” she said.
“We see the destruction that happens from it.”
The six employees involved at the Dandenong Hospital, include medical director Dr Pat Tolan.
“Every day I see young people who are physically and psychologically affected by excessive alcohol consumption,” he said.
“Alcohol dependency can cause serious health issues and can be fatal – that is why I support FebFast and its aim to raise awareness of the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption.”
Last year, St John of God Health Care raised $20,000 during FebFast, a number it hopes to better this year.
