DANDENONG superfish Nick Galileos had some additional weight in his luggage coming back from Adelaide.
The 13-year-old swimming dynamo won the boys 12-13 400 metre individual medley at the Australian Age Championships last week.
Touching in at 4.52.14, Galileos smashed his personal best in the event, shaving 10 seconds off his time heading into the event and claimed an emphatic win that will put him on the radar as one of Victoria’s best up and coming swimmers.
“It was on the last day of the meet, the last individual event – I was overall pretty happy with it as I came in ranked second, so to come out on top is pretty good,” Galileos said.
With a fourth and a fifth in the championships as well, in the 200m breaststroke and individual medley, it caps off an impressive week for Galileos – with a ton of personal bests on top of his national championship.
“I thought I did a fairly good job,” he said.
“All other events I did PBs in as well, so it was a great week.”
It capped off a busy week for the Casey TigerSharks swimmer, with eight individual events across the card.
With the championships out of the way, Galileos can focus on next swim-season, with the older TigerSharks preparing for the Australian Swimming Championships, which act as World Championships qualifiers as well, in Adelaide from 26 April to 3 May.
