Knights no time for Thunder

By JARROD POTTER

FOOTBALL FEDERATION VICTORIA – National Premier Leagues

A BLEAK night for the Dandenong Thunder was reflected in the skies and on the scoreboard.
It could not get much worse for Thunder as the home side conceded a 1-4 home loss on a cold, rainy night at George Andrews Reserve.
Thunder keeper Zaim Zaneli was under siege from the get-go as Knights rattled off a trio of first-half goals.
Stipo Andrijasevic, Daniel Visevic and Ivan Grgic blasted the lead out to 3-0 in the Knights’ favour at the 20-minute mark.
Newly recruited Thunder striker Carl Lamb struck cleanly to bring the margin back to two goals just after the half-time resumption, but 15 minutes later the game was iced as Michael Doyle sealed the Knights’ charge with a header off a corner to take the three-goal victory.
Dandenong has tumbled down the NPL ladder to ninth place with a 6-7-3 record and a minus-11 goal difference and will need to bounce back when it hosts Bentleigh Greens on Saturday night.
In other results, Dandenong City could not be separated against Box Hill United in a 0-0 draw while Springvale White Eagles lost narrowly to North Geelong 2-3.
