None Of Our Business But…

THE barbecue hit a snag at last year’s All Holden Street Car Show when the sausage sizzle’s key component ran dry.
So the Rotary Club of Endeavour Hills has made sure visitors will be able to snap up a snag throughout this year’s event.
They’ve bought more than enough meat to last the day and will deliver any leftovers to Cornerstone Contact Centre.

TAKE a Swing for Charity this year raised close to $55,000 for State Schools’ Relief Fund (SSRF).
The organisation provides uniforms, clothing, shoes and other materials to children attending government schools.
The annual SEBN golf day was this year held on 22 February and over the past six years has raised more than $250,000.
Last year SSRF received $44,000 from the event which paid for school equipment and uniforms for 679 students from 17 local schools.

GREATER Dandenong will donate $10,000 to help Fiji recover from the worst cyclone in its history.
At their 15 March meeting, councillors unanimously voted to support the Australian Red Cross Tropical Cyclone Winston Appeal which was providing tarpaulins and tools, hygiene items, mosquito coils and water containers
Councillor John Kelly moved the motion and said that many Fijian ex-pats called the municipality home and would have family and friends affected by the disaster.

DOOR-knocking can be a hazard in any reporter’s job.
And there was some natural trepidation when the Journal did the rounds of Apex Street to find out about the now-notorious youth gang.
But lo and behold, the most confronting scene involved another set of door-knockers – a group of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
The three ladies were very hospitable. They were keen to recruit the Journal to a memorial event titled You Will Be With Me In Paradise.
