GREATER Dandenong residents will come together at Dandenong Park on Sunday 26 January to celebrate Australia Day.
The council has designed Festival in the Park around the theme “a celebration of our community and the things we have in common”.
All residents are invited to join in free, family friendly activities at Dandenong Park in Pultney Street from 3pm to 9.30pm.
Live music, dance, roving performances, food and market stalls will entertain visitors.
Reggae band Sol Nation and indie pop band Diamonds of Neptune will get people dancing and illusionists, magicians and fire twirlers will keep kids enthralled.
Inflatable attractions for the young and young at heart include a giant 30-metre slide and the Blue Lagoon, and there’s a combat-style challenge obstacle course and a bungee run for those who like adventure.
All activities at the community festival are free.
Greater Dandenong mayor Jim Memeti said he was looking forward to seeing a large number of families attend.
“We are a culturally diverse community with 50 per cent of our residents born overseas,” he said.
“Australia Day is a time when we can all come together to enjoy what is a special day for everyone in our community.
“The Australia Day festival has a strong community feel and is a great way to celebrate with family, friends and neighbours.”
