POLICE are seeking witnesses to two armed road rage clashes in Dandenong, one involving a silver handgun.
Greater Dandenong CIU Acting Detective Sergeant Luke Kirton said a Dandenong man, 36, was driving north on Frankston Dandenong Road about 10.30pm on 18 February.
A dark-coloured older model Holden station wagon with dark tinted windows was following him and then pulled alongside him near the Dandenong Bypass.
The victim told police the driver shone a torch in his eyes while passengers screamed abuse at him.
When both cars stopped at the next traffic lights, they threw a glass bottle that smashed his rear windscreen and damaged the rear passenger-side quarter panel.
The driver then pulled his car in front of the victim’s and a passenger got out with a baseball bat.
Act Det Sgt Kirton said the victim fled through the red light with the attackers in pursuit, lost them in James Street, and went to police.
Also on Frankston-Dandenong Road, about 4.20pm on 21 February, a Mornington man was driving north in the right lane behind a black, early model Holden Commodore station wagon travelling at low speed.
The victim told police the car in front braked suddenly and he signalled for its driver to move left so he could overtake.
When they didn’t he moved into the left lane to go around, and as he pulled up alongside the car the driver held up a baseball bat and signalled for him to pull over.
The victim moved into the right lane to turn into Glasscocks Road and the offender pulled up alongside, pointed a silver handgun at him then continued straight ahead with the handgun out the window for about 50 metres.
The victim described the driver as aged in his 20s or 30s, Caucasian and unshaven with a slim face and tattoos covering both forearms.
He was wearing a grey hoodie with the hood up.
There was a woman in the front passenger seat with short dark hair, described as thin and Caucasian.
Act Det Sgt Kirton said there was nothing to suggest the two incidents were linked, and appealed for witnesses to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
