A KEYSBOROUGH industrial building is the first in Australia to register for a Green Star – Performance rating.
Australand developed the 27,000 square metre Keysborough Spec 1 facility at the Key Industrial Park.
It was completed in 2011 and houses Tyres 4U and Early Settler.
It incorporates naturally ventilated warehouse spaces, rainwater tanks to supply toilets and irrigation, fixed shading to prevent glare, solar hot water and water efficient fixtures, sustainably sourced timber and more.
Australand is targeting a 4 Star rating for the project using the Green Building Council of Australia’s (GBCA) new Green Star – Performance rating tool.
Green Building Council of Australia chief executive Romilly Madew said Australand was demonstrating that industrial facilities could be “more than tin sheds on concrete slabs – they can be productive, efficient and resilient buildings”.
The development is the largest 5 Star Green Star industrial project in Australia, achieving a 5 Star Green Star – Industrial Design v1 rating in 2012.
It was also the 500th certified Green Star project in Australia.
