Strictly speaking, it’s a school reunion

FORMER students and teachers of Dandenong Girls’ High School, Dandenong North High School and Cleeland High School will gather for a reunion on Saturday 13 September.
Organiser Colleen Bailey expects up to 400 people to gather in the hall at the Ann Street campus to reminisce, look at displays of memorabilia and tour the old school.
She said the response to a Facebook campaign promoting the reunion had been overwhelming.
“We didn’t quite realised it would become this big. We’ve created a monster.”
Ms Bailey attended the school between 1969 and 1973 when it was an all girls school.
“I remember it was very strict.
“There were prefects standing at the gate before school checking hats and gloves.”
She hopes the reunion will be allow people to rekindle friendships that were important in their school days.
One of the guests at the reunion will be Colleen’s best friend from Dandenong Girls’ High. Despite both living in Melbourne, the women haven’t seen each other in more than 30 years.
“It’s amazing how many people have contacted me.
“There are 12 teachers coming as well.
“The hardest part has been getting in touch with many of the students who went to the girls’ school who have since changed their names.”
The reunion costs $10 per head.
