It has been a year of highs and lows, achievement and loss.
It was also a year tinged with sadness with the passing of legendary Journal reporter Marg Stork who died in May aged 92.
Marg diligently wrote about Dandenong for more than 70 years and contributed to her column, A Moment with Marg, right up until her death.
Among the stand-out issues this year was the growing scourge of the drug ice, the Give Us a Hand campaign in support of the City of Greater Dandenong’s call for more resources to help asylum seekers, and the White Ribbon campaign against family violence.
But no matter the story, we thank the individuals and organisations who generously shared their thoughts, feelings and experiences in the pages of the Journal throughout 2014.
Next year the Journal celebrates its 150th anniversary.
We look forward to marking this historic occasion by focusing not only on the past, but celebrating what a local newspaper can mean to readers of today.
This is the final edition of the Journal for 2014.
The first edition of 2015 will be published on 12 January. In it we take a look back at 2014 and reveal the Journal’s person of the year.
From all the staff at the Journal we wish you and your family a merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year.
