KEYSBOROUGH will celebrate its youngest residents with pizza, papadums and pierogies.
Somerfield Social Club will for the first time hold an International Children’s Day event with help from developer Intrapac.
The day will be celebrated globally on 1 June to draw attention to children’s issues including access to education, human rights, safety and healthcare.
Children live in 70 per cent of Keysborough households and 19 per cent of the suburb’s residents are aged 14 years or younger.
Intrapac chief operating officer Max Shifman said people from more than 50 ethnicities called Somerfield home.
“We’re encouraging children to come dressed in their national dress to showcase their heritage, together with a plate of food to share,” he said.
“There will be Bollywood dancing, flag making and more.”
International Children’s Day will be held from 10am to noon on Sunday 31 May at the Somerfield Estate Pirate Adventure Playground, near the corner of Somerfield Drive North and Newbury Street.
