POLICE are investigating a pair of robberies only a day apart in which two women were mugged as they walked home from the Springvale train station.
Police are unable to confirm whether this month’s robberies were linked.
The first victim was walking home along Watt Street in Springvale about 11.30pm on Wednesday 1 July when she was approached by three Caucasian men in their late teens who demanded her phone.
She attempted to run away but one of the offenders punched her in the mouth and took her phone and some cash before fleeing.
The woman sustained minor injuries.
The second attack occurred the following day about 7.50pm as another woman was walking down Princess Avenue in Springvale.
The victim was tapped on the shoulder and confronted by two young Caucasian males who started up a conversation with her. The woman tried to walk away but one of the men pulled her back.
The victim then tried to run but tripped and fell on the road, where the two offenders stood over her and demanded her phone.
The woman screamed and the two men ran off towards Balmoral Avenue.
