From eyesore to park?

By CASEY NEILL

AN abandoned school site in Noble Park is attracting vandals.
City of Greater Dandenong Councillor Peter Brown called for the former Noble Park Special Developmental School grounds in Callander Road to be cleaned up.
A State Government spokesman said the Education Department sold the site in November 2013 and it was now in private hands.
“I assumed the department still owned it because all their signs are still up,” Cr Brown said.
“We can issue a clean-up notice and other action can be taken if our compliance department deem it unsafe.
“I guess that will be the next step.”
Cr Brown said the derelict buildings were attracting anti-social behaviour “which the neighbours can well do without”.
“It does pose security issues to those dwellings,” he said.
“The site needs to be cleaned up.
“Once cleared with the established trees only left, it would look like a pocket park.”
