Numbers up at Dandenong kinders

TWO Dandenong kindergartens are offering more than 100 new places and partnering with family services as one-stop shops.
Dandenong MP Gabrielle Williams officially opened kinders co-located with the Dandenong and Dandenong West primary schools on Monday 29 February.
Both hubs will now also include maternal and child health consulting rooms.
The Dandenong kinder increased its licensed capacity for four-year-olds from 29 to 80 and Dandenong West now has 80 places, up from 30.
Ms Williams said co-locating kindergartens with primary schools created a smooth transition for children as they moved into Prep.
She said the State Government contributed $650,000 to each hub’s redevelopment and the City of Greater Dandenong also chipped in.
“We know that the evidence shows providing an integrated approach to early childhood education, health and children’s services improves outcomes,” Ms Williams said.
“Children and their families in Dandenong will greatly benefit from the opportunities and services that these two centres bring.”
