A CROWD of more than 2000 people is expected to attend a Sikh festival parade in central Dandenong on Sunday 10 April.
The Sri Guru Granth Sahib temple is holding the parade to celebrate Baisakhi, which is partly a harvest thanksgiving.
The parade of floats, drumming and Sikh priests carrying ceremonial swords starts at Dandenong Plaza in McCrae Street at 10am, finishing at Dandenong Park 45 minutes later.
The festival continues in the park and will feature a free vegetarian lunch and martial arts displays.
Organisers say that according to Sikh principles, no drugs, tobacco and alcohol are allowed during the procession.
