Scouting for budding film-makers

Budding film-makers of all ages could see their work on the big screen in Dandenong.
Entries are now open for next year’s Greater Dandenong Short Cuts Film Festival.
The emerging category is open to current or recent film graduates with less than five years’ experience.
Primary and secondary students and people with no professional film-making training can enter the community/student section.
Professional film-makers can enter their work in the open section.
The council hosted the inaugural Short Cuts Film Festival in June this year.
Richard Moore will return as curator, bringing experience that includes the Melbourne International Film Festival.
Greater Dandenong Mayor Jim Memeti said the festival provided a fantastic platform for local community members, emerging artists and accomplished industry professionals to share their stories.
“It is a true celebration of film and gives a voice to anyone who wants to showcase their storytelling talents on screen,” he said.
There’ll be prizes for each category winner plus a mayoral prize open to all entrants.

Successful films will be shown at The Drum Theatre in Dandenong on Friday 5 May next year.
Submissions will be accepted until 17 March.
