Chisholm Institute has announced its next CEO.
Dr Richard Ede will take over from the retiring Maria Peters in March next year.
Dr Ede will leave his post as the chief executive of New Zealand’s largest institute of technology, Unitec, after 10 years.
Before his role there, Dr Ede worked at the CSIRO for nine years, leading industry and research initiatives with public and commercial clients and oversaw joint ventures, large staff teams and multi-million dollar budgets.
Prior to that he taught in the tertiary sector. He has a master’s degree and a doctorate in chemistry from the University of Waikato.
Chisholm chairman Stephen Marks said Dr Ede had a passion for education and was a highly-experienced and successful CEO.
“He will have a critical role in maintaining Chisholm’s sustainability and in leading the Institute into the future,” he said.
Dr Ede said Chisholm could “further increase our contribution to our community, create great learning experiences and employment outcomes for our students, and become a partner of choice for businesses and employers who are looking to develop their workforces to be fit for the future”.
