Mental health help

By Casey Neill

A beyondblue guest speaker will share mental health advice at the next Noble Park Community Action Forum.
Greater Dandenong Councillor and NPCAF president Roz Blades said the Wednesday 14 March session was something different for the monthly event.
“We have a lot of council and we have some government,” she said.
“What we’re hearing is that mental health’s a big issue in the area and that people want a bit more information about services and what can be provided.”
Cr Blades said the meeting would start at 7pm and Jim Moore was the speaker.
“I’m hoping people take away that they’re not on their own, that we all have mental health issues at some time in our lives and that we’re there to help and that people care,” she said.
“And then of course there’ll be information that we can provide about services.”
She said attendees could also speak to other meeting guests to share stories.
“You might think you’re the only person who’s ever had depression or a marriage break down,” she said.
“You get together with other people and find out they’ve had this too, how they dealt with it, and how you could deal with it.
“If this is successful we can branch out into a few more community health issues.”
The Noble Park Community Action Forum meets at the Paddy O’Donoghue Centre on the second Wednesday of each month.
