Brigade’s life-saving boost

A $50,000 boost will help the region’s firefighters to buy defibrillators and recruit new members.

The district eight headquarters in Dandenong South was among nearly 250 successful applications in the CFA’s Enhancing Volunteerism Grants Program’s first round.

The $53,565.50 grant will pay for five defibrillators to enhance first-aid response capacity.

It will also establish a new campaign for recruitment and re-engagement of volunteers, with a focus engaging with multi-cultural communities.

“CFA volunteers are a treasured part of our community and play an important role in our emergency services, so I am delighted they have been successful in securing this grant,” Dandenong MP Gabrielle Williams said.

Applications for the second round opened for 30 days from 1 June.
