No escape in Dandenong

ILLEGAL drivers had no place to hide during a state highway patrol blitz in Dandenong last Wednesday and Thursday.

As part of Operation Road Bia, police set up simultaneous sites with automatic number plate recognition technology on Princes Highway and the Dandenong Bypass, netting long lines of offending vehicles. T

hey caught 72 disqualified and suspended drivers, 112 drivers of unregistered vehicles, 47 unlicensed drivers and 510 drivers with outstanding fines.

Greater Dandenong police’s Inspector Caroline West said the “disturbing” results showed large numbers of repeat offenders were disregarding the law.
