AFL: Rays add sting to Vic Country U18 squad

DANDENONG Stingrays had eight players named in the Vic Country squad for the AFL under-18 national championships starting this Saturday.

Clayton McCartney, Billy Hartung, Zak Jones, Josh Pickess, James Harmes, Daniel Capiron, Tom Lamb and Brady Egan were named in the side, which plays its first match against Northern Territory at TIO Stadium at 4pm this Saturday.

Oakleigh Chargers had nine players named in the Vic Metro squad for the championships.

Dingley’s Nathan Freeman, who plays for Sandringham Dragons, was also named in the Metro squad.

Metro plays its first match of the carnival against Queensland at Yeronga, Queensland, at 1pm Sunday.

The Stingrays had a 17-point win over Bendigo Pioneers on Saturday will play North Ballarat Rebels at Shepley Oval at 1pm this Saturday.
