AN American man was bashed with a chair, belt and bottle after an argument turned violent in Springvale on Sunday.
About 1.30am on June 16, the 23-year-old victim was outside Icy Bar on Springvale Road when an argument broke out between himself and a group of Asian men at the front of the premises. Police believe the men were patrons at the bar.
The men attacked the victim, who was visiting from the United States, outside the nearby Cafe Asmara.
He was taken to the Dandenong Hospital with lacerations and bruising.
Sergeant Luke Kirton from the Dandenong crime investigation unit said police were viewing security footage of the incident.
‘‘We’d like to speak to anyone in the vicinity of the Icy Bar or (Cafe) Asmara at the time,’’ he said.
