Rangers rally in final quarter turn-around

THE Dandenong Rangers snapped a four game losing streak and moved a game closer to SEABL finals contention after overcoming Albury Wodonga on the road on Saturday night.
The Rangers trailed all game and went into the final term four points down, but rallied late to take a crucial 86-76 win.
Brent Hobba led the way for the Rangers with 22 points and 15 boards, with Vince Inglima (17 points), Gavin Illangakoon (12) and James De Neefe (11) providing support.
The club had earlier made a shaky start to round 16, going down on Wednesday night to Knox 103-91 at Knox Converse Stadium.
Brent Hobba had his first of two double-doubles (26, 10) for the round and Dusty Jura (30, 16) was outstanding but the Rangers had trouble containing Knox’s scorers, with C.J. Massingale (33, nine) leading a group of five players in double figures.
The Rangers can consider the 1-1 result from the round a win, as the club moved within a game of Bendigo on the East conference ladder after the Braves dropped both their matches.
Meanwhile the Lady Rangers won a two-point thriller against Albury Wodonga on the road, keeping the side in touch with the top six. The Lady Rangers held a five-point lead at the final change and held off the fast-finishing home side to record a 67-65 win. Chelsea Burns (20, nine) top-scored for the Rangers, ahead of Amelia Todhunter (15) and Tess Meyer (12). The Lady Rangers remain in seventh place, just outside of finals contention, but are only behind Albury Wodonga on percentage. This Friday night the men’s team hits the road to take on Mt Gambier at The Icehouse, while the Lady Rangers have a week off.
