AN ART exhibition by emerging and established female artists will celebrate women’s sense of belonging when launched in Dandenong next month.
The She Who Belongs exhibition will showcase inspiring artwork by a mixture of female artists, promising the chance of high-profile exposure to those judged winners in the March exhibit.
The exhibition will be held at the Walker Street Gallery from 2 to 28 March, and gallery coordinator Cathy van Ee said the exhibition would explore the theme of women belonging in many facets of life.
“Belonging adds to our lives a sense of place, family and home,” she said.
“When people move from country to country, or family structures change, or even when moving house, all these things affect our sense of belonging,” she said.
“The She 2006 series will display fabulous interpretations on this theme from new artists and established artists across the country.”
The gallery will display the finalists, decided in partnership with Cube 37, Alcaston Gallery, Yileena Park and Monash Gallery of Art, and to be launched tomorrow (Thursday, 2 March) at 6.30pm at Walker Street Gallery.
The Walker Street Gallery is located on the corner of Walker and Robinson Streets, Dandenong. Contact the gallery on 9706 8441 for more information.
