STUDENTS at Springvale Secondary College are gearing up for one of the state’s largest bike rides.
The Great Victorian Bike Ride will start in on 25 November and finish 6 December and take riders from Wangaratta to Yarra Glen.
The school is preparing a team of dedicated riders and is on the lookout for local businesses who want to sponsor the team.
Students Ryan (front), Linda, Navy, (from back) Xintong, Akrem, Ye, teacher Ron Olson, and Edward this week spun out on bike ride fever.
The school takes part in the bike ride each year and will this year travel through some of Victoria’s most scenic destinations including Beechworth, Myrtleford, Tallangatta, Whitfield and Mansfield.
One of the main beneficiaries of the bike ride will be Diabetes Australia Victoria.
The bike ride first began in 1984 and has occurred annually.
The Great Victorian Bike Ride was started by Bicycle Victoria and is open to all riders of all ages.
Last year the ride attracted more than 4000 riders for a ride from Swan Hill to Heidelberg.
Potential sponsors for Springvale Secondary’s Great Victorian Bike Ride team can contact the school on 9546 8755.
