THERE’S no doubt Greater Dandenong’s senior citizens know how to party.
The 2006 Victorian Seniors Festival kicked off last Sunday and will run until 8 October with a variety of activities happening across the state.
One activity that garnered attention in Dandenong was line dancing at the Mauritian Hall in Menzies Avenue.
A host of seniors gathered to boot-scoot along to their favourite country dance tunes on Tuesday.
Of course if line dancing is not enough then the city’s seniors ought to investigate the Dandenong branch of the National Seniors network.
The 200-strong group meets once a month at Dandenong RSL to discuss issues affecting people over the age of 50, and to lobby for changes to policies that will benefit senior citizens.
The branch is always on the lookout for new members to join not only its monthly meeting but the numerous social outings the group has each year.
The spritely group was formed in 2004 and is part of the national network of 280,000 seniors aged 50 and over.
