CHILDREN’S Week will hit Hemmings Park next week with a bundle of activities for the whole family.
A family fun day at the park on Friday 27 October from 10am to 2.30pm will feature an animal farm, music for young children, face painting, an African drum group and a sausage sizzle.
The event will also be the launching pad of the Communities for Children Greater Dandenong initiative and the Intensive Support Playgroup programs.
Funded by the Federal Government under the Stronger Families and Communities Strategy, the projects aim to promote positive outcomes for children under school age and their families.
Greater Dandenong mayor Peter Brown encouraged parents and their carers to make sure their young children were part of the activities.
The council’s children and family services coordinator Toni Lawson said this year’s event would be huge.
“This really is one way we can celebrate our children and put on a day especially for them.
“Children’s Week celebrates the right of children to enjoy childhood. It is also a time for children to demonstrate their talents, skills and abilities.”
