Group to be quarantined for the day

THE Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) Detector Dog unit will visit the Springvale Mandarin Support Group today (Thursday) to explain what can and can’t be brought into the country.
The group will give a presentation on quarantine and the work of the Detector Dog Unit at Melbourne Airport.
Dog Handler’s Linda Spiteri and Andrea Jacovou will speak to the group about what items can’t be brought into Australia from overseas.
Some of the more bizarre quarantine-seized items will be on display.
Sniffer Beagle Annie will then give a demonstration of her detector dog skills.
The AQIS expects more than 50 people to attend. An interpreter will translate the presentation into Chinese as it is delivered.
