Dandy world of learning

By CASEY NEILL

DANDENONG South Primary School students gave their school a giant hug last week.
Principal Leonie Fitzgerald said the Education Week celebration saw the 520 kids link arms with teachers, parents and grandparents.
“We wanted to show we are all united together, learning together,” she said.
The school’s motto is A World of Learning.
“We’re a very multicultural school,” Ms Fitzgerald said.
The hug followed a grandparents’ day morning tea and activities, which saw them help their grandchildren with art, music and maths activities.
“That was a lot of fun for everyone,” Ms Fitzgerald said.
Education Week celebrations also included a writing competition that asked students to explain what they loved about their school.
Responses included playing with their friends, their teachers and their principal. One Prep student said they loved the way their teacher smiled at them every day.
“They said they loved learning. They said wonderful things,” Ms Fitzgerald said.
The winning entry was from a Grade 4 student: “My school is impressive because we have many students who come from different countries and backgrounds. My school is a world of learning.”
