THE spark has returned to the Dandenong Thunder after bouncing back from a disappointing loss last week to knock off the Southern Stars 3-1.
Heading toward the business end of the season, Dandenong couldn’t afford another lacklustre outing and responded in fashion. While scoring only one goal in the first period, the Thunder went into half time with the lead nonetheless and was confident the lead could be build on. Dandenong was able to restrict the Southern Stars’ ball movement throughout the game and kept them scoreless in the first half.
In the second period the Thunder played like a team that knew the game could still be stolen and was determined not to let another one slip. Dandenong kicked two goals to the Southern Stars’ one to ensure a solid victory, keeping the Thunder within striking distance of the higher sides on the ladder.
Dandenong remains seventh and will play the second-placed Bentleigh Greens this week at Kingston Heath.
