SPRINGVALE and Dandenong will be home to three community hubs designed to empower migrants and refugees.
Multicultural Affairs Minister Kate Lundy and Bruce incumbent and Labor candidate Alan Griffin announced on Sunday that Dandenong, Springvale Rise and Dandenong West primary schools would each house hubs.
Project funding was allocated in this year’s Federal Budget through the Empowering Multicultural Communities initiative.
The hubs will serve as a portal for migrants and refugees to access information and government services, local support, and community information to help them successfully settle in Australia.
The Australian Labor Party is working with the Scanlon Foundation, the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and the Migration Council of Australia to establish up to 100 community hubs to improve connections between migrants and support services.
The completion date for the hubs is yet to be announced.
