Swimmer

A RUSSIAN swimmer competing at the FINA World Championships in Melbourne was given a police warning after she was caught, and admitted, stealing cosmetics from a shop at Dandenong Plaza last week.
The swimmer, who turns 15 this September, holds a World Youth Championships record for the 200-metre breaststroke event.
The youngster is staying with the Russian swim team at Dandenong’s Ramada Encore Hotel and training at Doveton’s Pool in the Park for the FINA World Championships, underway in Melbourne.
Dandenong Police said she “assisted police with their inquiries relating to an alleged retail theft” at the Plaza’s Kmart store at noon on Thursday, 15 March.
She had taken about $70 of cosmetics and clothing.
Police said she had no prior convictions and admitted she stole the goods, allowing them to release her with an official caution.
